Strengthening cybersecurity services in companies is an imperative nowadays. The explosion of teleworking and the hybrid work format that many companies are implementing after the pandemic and the relaxation of health regulations, brings new challenges in terms of information protection and data protection.
Gtd, a Chilean telecommunications and technology solutions company in Latin America and Europe with 40 years of experience and multinational presence, understands the current corporate needs and has a pool of cybersecurity services that adapts not only to the needs of each of its customers, according to the nature of their core business, but also to this new scenario, where information protection services are no longer only focused on a particular office or corporate building, but on a system that contemplates the remote work mode in its protection architecture. "In recent quarters we have seen an increase in attacks or threats to which workers are exposed from home or in hybrid work environments. This has served to highlight that technologies such as cloud solutions, VPN connections, VDI services, collaborative tools or videoconferencing applications, among other services, are also exposed means for cybercriminals. This is why we need to be prepared in advance to maintain security, especially when attacks against corporate IT infrastructures have increased significantly," says Jorge Castañeda, manager of Gtd's Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. |

And the numbers support this scenario. A report by Global Threats reports a 300% increase in cyber-attacks during 2020. And an INTERPOL assessment of the impact of the pandemic on cybercrime also showed a shift in its targets. Hackers shifted from attacking individuals and small businesses to large multinationals, state administrations and critical infrastructure.
Cybersecurity Center of Excellence.
Gtd is aware that technology without proper guidance and experience is not enough. That is why they strengthened their proposal with the development of a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. "To maintain a lasting value proposition over time, you must have highly specialized engineering, prepared in emerging technologies," says Castañeda, adding that "our regional engineering teams are prepared and highly specialized, allowing our customers to have the best specialist in a certain technology or solution available from the region, guiding and supporting the local team."
Evaluating threats, exposing their criticality and presenting measures that allow its clients to be prepared for possible attacks is part of Gtd's
Gtd's cybersecurity proposal, "we have a Regional CyberSOC with teams deployed in Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia with the ability to meet analysis requirements, specialized use cases, event correlation, behavioral analytics, as well as to monitor services acquired from our clients with high Cyber Intelligence capabilities, allowing cost savings, focus of own resources towards projects and business", explains Castañeda.
In addition, the company provides an online portal, customized to the client's services, which allows it to constantly evaluate them and see if SLAs are being met, response times, service and events per ticket, and the capacity of use of the services acquired, among others. The manager of the center of excellence assures that "these differentiating elements of our value proposition allow the client to have peace of mind in the face of threats such as ransomware campaigns, cyber espionage, extortion, destruction of information or even operations to influence public opinion that threaten the reputation of the brand".
Full service to prepare work environments.
Hybrid work environments demand high availability of services and that leads to the search for cloud solutions to ensure that availability. "Even though these environments have their security solutions, in many cases we don't hire it or we look for basic security services. Our Cloud Cybersecurity service ranges from consulting, advisory, as well as technologies from our partners, which are already hosted in large public or corporate clouds, providing services on demand. Our job is to prepare those environments for the security of your information."
Better cybersecurity for a more digitized future.
Digitization has opened up a world of possibilities and there is no turning back. In fact, a report prepared by Gartner forecasts that global spending on IT at the public level will increase by 6.5% next year, compared to 2021. This projection also presupposes the need to update and strengthen cybersecurity systems within small, medium and large companies.
Jorge Castañeda explains that "it is not enough to have an IT department that deals completely with cybersecurity. In Gtd we have a high technical specialization that our engineering has, which is accredited by the leading brands in the field, allowing them to demonstrate all the know-how and technical expertise in these brands. For all of the above, in Gtd we not only offer a pool of services, we are a strategic ally, accompanying our customers throughout the process of implementation and monitoring of the solutions applied".
In addition, they have a team of cybersecurity consultants, highly specialized and accredited in cybersecurity services, "this team makes up our Regional Cyberintelligence theme," he says.
Currently in Chile, Gtd has clients in the banking, financial and mining sectors, to whom they provide the CyberSOC service of monitoring and correlation of events, which provides complete visibility of security threats affecting the relevant IT infrastructure of customers, in real time, around the clock throughout the year. "This allows for qualified information to be available when making decisions that facilitate the classification of threats, based on their importance, in order to mitigate them in an agile, simple and orderly manner, streamlining resources and saving time, money and many headaches for the CIO," explains the manager.
