In simple terms, cloud computing is all technology that enables remote access to applications, platforms, storage and data processing through the Internet or private networks. Gtd, a telecommunications and IT services company with more than 42 years of experience and presence in Latin America and Europe, has the most complete ecosystem of IT solutions, which allows its customers to access technological and digital capabilities with custom-designed plans, according to what each company requires, ensuring its operational continuity.
Entering the digital era is a real journey to the cloud. Matías Gil, commercial manager of Gtd, explains that "when we plan a trip to a place we do not know, we look for an operator that gives us confidence to make the best use of our digital assets and thus, get the best experience. Starting the path of digital transformation is similar, the alternatives are varied and not having a proper guide along the way can be detrimental. At Gtd we have excellent professional talent and the appropriate infrastructure to evaluate, advise and guide our clients in this journey to the cloud, making the most of the advantages of technology".
Gtd currently has its own network of nine data centers, located in Chile, Peru and Colombia, which form a true backbone of infrastructure for IT services, allowing it to position itself as the company with the most robust offering in the market. Six of its data centers are Tier III certified, in addition to its nodes located in the United States and Brazil, ensuring a wide deployment of secure data and information transmission. It also has the southernmost data center in the Southern Cone, located in Puerto Montt.
"Today, the great challenge for companies is to be able to transform and evolve quickly. This means having the capacity to implement new business models, adapting and integrating their processes and service channels with agility. All this is enabled on digital technologies, where being able to access them quickly, efficiently and flexibly is a critical factor for companies," explains the commercial manager of Gtd.
"We have a powerful infrastructure and a professional team of excellence, which allows us to put together a tailor-made suit for each of our clients," says Gil, adding that the company's IT solutions minimize operational risk and offer agility and efficiency for innovation, enabling its clients to access new capabilities quickly and, above all, securely.
The importance of migrating to the cloud
According to IDC (Intelligence Data Corporation), services associated with cloud systems will grow by 30.4% by 2023, while in Chile this growth is expected to reach 29.7% for enterprise cloud services.
According to Matías Gil, "being able to quickly access new applications, functional use cases, and knowledge about all the organization's data, and then improve the experience with its customers, as well as achieve efficiency with the entire value chain, is essential to expand the expectations of any business and that is why it is so important to hire not only a pool of services, but an ally, which is what we offer at Gtd".
By immersing themselves in this true journey to the cloud, the collaborators of a company or business will also benefit, by being able to access all the tools, application and collaboration platforms, "thus considerably improving productivity rates at work, with solutions that must always be available, from any place and device, of course, in a secure way", highlights the commercial manager.
And it is precisely with the aim of anticipating market requirements that Gtd is already making progress in two ambitious projects; the installation of a data center in Barranquilla, Colombia, and the construction of a second data center in Lima, Peru, which will allow the company to grow by almost 8,000 m2 of data center, with investments of around 50 million dollars. Both projects are expected to be operational by 2023, which will enable the company to maintain its leadership with the most complete and robust connectivity ecosystem in Latin America.
Migrating to the cloud, more than a trend
According to Matías Gil, "accelerating the transformation and growth of any business requires an agile and flexible technological operation on cloud ecosystems, where the great challenge is to determine the most appropriate strategy for each type of company". In this process, he adds, "each company must design its cloud architecture and adoption strategy, based on its current level of technological maturity and processes; service levels, risks, regulations to which it is subject, budget, and business objectives".
According to the executive's experience and opinion, "going digital is no longer a trend, but rather a good business practice". Among the most frequent requirements are the work desktop and collaboration and communication platforms; migration of applications and systems from on premise to multi-cloud environments, driven mainly by the considerable increase in hybrid work and Big Data and advanced analytics.
"At Gtd we have cultivated partnerships to develop professional services that allow us to take our customers to the leading public clouds and have the best connectivity globally and, at the same time, we provide access to our local cloud, delivering data sovereignty. This allows our customers to choose between a Global Public Cloud, a Dedicated Private Cloud or a Local Public Cloud. All of this is complemented by Gtd Cloud Express, a dedicated, private network connection between our customers' data centers and major public clouds," says Gil.
The Gtd Cloud service provides its clients with computing, storage and connectivity resources in public clouds (global or local) or in a private cloud environment, through its robust data center network, allowing to improve the efficiency of each company's processes, enabling business applications faster and at a lower cost.
